I’m also getting into medical. I’m building 3 trauma kits. I just got certified with Red Cross for Adult and Pediatric First Aid.

Where do I go from here?”

In regards to your conversation about a law forcing hotels to allow firearms, I think it’s important to consider the consequences of disobeying such a policy, with or without such a law. If a hotel can kick you out upon discovering a firearm, that’s honestly their right. If they can get you sent to prison for however long for trespassing with a firearm, that’s fucked up. Any law that addresses this must draw that line in a reasonable way. Thoughts?

I heard a rumor that PSA’s receivers were actually manufactured by Aero. Have you heard this? Is there any validity to it? Thanks, love the show. I’m (not-bi) curious to know more about the legality around transferring a finished Polymer80. I am under the impression that it’s a no-no, but wonder if there’s a way to sell it if it’s engraved with a serial number? I suppose I could just sell off the parts and keep the frame, but wanted to know for sure what the options are. D

Phil Osoraptor: 

I was watching a debate recently between Michael Shermer and Michael Huemer on the efficacy of gun laws. Huemer makes the case that gun ownership is a prima facie right, and requires a benefit many times greater than the harm of owning guns creates to morally justify any gun control laws. The other case against gun control laws is the aspect of non-compliance. He asserts that gun laws are somewhat unique in that they’re aimed at restricting the behavior of people who would already independently become criminals. Since it’s difficult to get criminals to follow laws (they’re law breakers by their very nature), it’s equally difficult to write a law that doesn’t affect the law-abiding citizens, who will be the only ones following the law. However, this isn’t to say that we shouldn’t have laws, just that laws that specifically target criminals are ineffective. To further clarify, we all agree that no one should murder other people, so we have a law that says no one should murder. Gun laws are typically trying to prevent the use of guns to commit crime, so it disproportionately affects those who won’t commit a crime.

What are your thoughts on these points?”
