Does Second Call Defense provide protection if you have to use something other than a firearm for self defense? Say a knife?

CHRIS W

What are your opinions on the full armored devtec Ronin and do you think that ballistic masks will ever become a common thing. Also you should get one and have Aaron wear to test it.

This is a question that came up this past weekend (more of a discussion with Shawn and I than a question) I have a zero strike policy in my RSO, CRSO and Instructor level classes. Shawn, this past weekend while I was in COS teaching you brought up a very interesting thought process that really made me think more about that policy. You (Shawn) said (I’m paraphrasing here) ‘if you kick an instructor candidate out for a mistake with a blue gun, you ruin them as a future student, shooter etc’. I would really like you guys to discuss this and tell me your thoughts.

Brett R

I have two bettas, two guppies and am about to add some rcs to my 15 gallon tank. Any ideas as a new addition to the tank? Other than more guppies. Like with very vibrant colors? It can be schooling, solo, just any ideas to something new?

We got into an awesome discussion on the WLS Patron page about teachers and instructors wearing body armor on the range while teaching new students. My response to Shawn when he asked me to explain my ‘why’ was, “Can I just say it keeps my skinny ass warm in the winter?” In all seriousness I explain (if asked) that there have been cases that instructors have been shot and while the chances are VERY slim, I want to mitigate the risk as much as I can. I further explain that I am on a range somewhere around 3 weekends a month so the risk level goes up as I am on the range more often than most people. I also use the vest pockets to hold things like a cell phone and a range finder. I could just wear a carrier group with no armor to achieve the ‘tool box’ by strapping on a cell phone holder and a few other pouches but why not have the protection along with that tool box? Luke Allen said “there is very little danger on a stationary range”. To me, this is one of the reasons I wear one. Luke is saying there is a slight chance of danger and therefore saying ‘it could happen’. Keep in mind I only really wear it around new shooters. I get that I have 2 dump pouches on my belt but that belt starts to get really heavy after a while so the pockets are very useful to me. Andy Montoya also wears a vest for the same reasons I do but he teaches in Albuquerque NM so his risks are even higher. I try to run my range with safety protocols that some would find silly or stupid, but I have also seen some people break those and potentially cause risk. I have never seen my vest as tacticool, I have seen it as a tool. I would love to hear the panel discuss this topic.

First, I appreciate the detailed responses I received for my last question on the 300blk Ruger American. But here’s another question. I recently purchased a Bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 creedmoor. I’m currently glass shopping. I’ve been researching the new Sig Sauer Sierra3 BDX optic. What are your opinions of this system? The rifle will be used mostly to ring steel at extended ranges (800-1000 yards) but I would like to hunt with it occasionally. Do you think this optic system would fair well in such a setup or would each of you have a particular optic you would recommend for a setup such as this. As always, thanks for the responses, except Aaron’s…

If u had the Infinity gontlet what would happen? I say for Savagge he would just explode. For Shane he would have it for a second, fix all his broken relationships then explode. Aarone would turn his house into shurma and then sell it for a penny. Jaramy would snap until only he and .5 of a person would be left.
