Question for all. I have been a listener for sometime. I have heard several questions about 40 cal, 45, .357 SIG instead of 9mm for self defense. WLS has educated me that shot placement is more important because all modern calibers have the same basic wound cavity. If shot placement is more important, than why is 22 wmr not in the conversation for self defense out of a revolver. Ballistics are solid, recoil is minimal, and Hornady makes critical defense loads that are excellent. Interested to hear everyone take on the matter.

Bonus question for Jeremy …Thoughts on Rebel Silencers for a budget option on a range toy ….Pretty sure you carry them at your range

WLS is life

Registration does lead to confiscation and in most cases sweet sweet post apocolyptic butt currency

Thanks Guys

First, can you find the time stamp and the episode where A-Aron was trying to defend his previous argument that registration doesn’t lead to confiscation? Just wanted to hear it again and hear how he tried to defend that BS argument. I remember in one of your previous phone-in episodes where A-Aron agreed (finally) that registration is intended to facilitate confiscation. Sorry, A-Aron. Second, Smith and Wesson Model 60 Pro Series or Ruger GP100. Thanks, love the show.

Great show guys! I trust your advice with my life and have an important question. I just screwed up bad. I bought a new Vortex scope and went to zero it. Like an indiot, I left the bore sighter in when I took the shot. Blew the muzzle brake wide open and the mag out the bottom of the rifle. it’s a semi-auto, DI, 30.06

I took off the brake, inspected the barrel and internals and there does not appear to be any other damage to the naked eye. There is possibly a slight bow about 3/4″ from the end of the barrel but It could just be an optical illusion. The rifle seems to cycle rounds when I did it by hand. I’m sitting here at the range trying to figure out if this is safe to keep shooting. What do you think?

NYS FreedomFighter

Hey guys, I want to say thank you for putting on such a great show. I look forward to listening to Doubletap every week. So much so that I listen to the live show on YouTube before the edited version releases. No sorry not enough to stay up an listen to it live. I have a four-year-old. My evenings are gold. I especially like it when someone asks a question that sets Jeremy off on a rant.

I don’t think this will be one of those. I have a NYS compliant AR15 pistol in 9mm that is listed on my permit as multi-caliber. It has an 8.5″ barrel and measures, according to the most recent ATF letter, at 24″. I also have a 22lr revolver with a 6″ barrel. The problem with it, is the groups open up way too much past 15 yards.

I don’t want to go longer than 25″ but was wondering if I got a 22lr DI upper what would be the optimal barrel length and twist rate for normal shooting to 50 yrds? Also as I understand the most recent ATF letter being a DI upper the measurement would be from the end of the barrel to the rear of the receiver (as opposed to the 9mm configuration that is to the end of the buffer). In your non-legal opinion do you agree? Or could they say because it takes both uppers it is the longest point?

Gun Bunny

If you had to be a Gun Bunny and you could be any Gun Bunny who would you be?

Shitfor Brains

After sitting at the range for a while looking things over and taking apart as much as I could without any real tools I decided to give it a go. I’m still here to send this to you. Zero’d the rifle at a 100 yards. Shot about 20 rounds. Got it home the barrel has 0.009″ bubble 3/4″ from the end. The inside has some very shiny parts that look like I shot a lot more rounds than I did. But nothing looks truly damaged.

When considering a carry gun, which order would each cast member place the following characteristics of a firearm…

Comfort

concealability

capacity

accuracy (how well the individual shoots the firearm)
