ShootingnewsweeklyA gun store owner provides practical advice for individuals looking to sell firearms, emphasizing that stores buy at wholesale to resell at a profit, resulting in offers significantly below retail or online private sale values. Condition, make, model, and current market demand heavily influence offers, with common guns often yielding low returns while rare or high-demand items fare better. Sellers are encouraged to understand these economics before visiting a shop.
- Availability: Best Use Case (selling/trading-in used firearms at retail gun stores rather than private sale or auction)
- Special: Pro: Quick, legal transaction with no advertising or stranger meetings; Con: Significantly lower payout than private sale due to store’s resale margin and overhead
-
BearingarmsAn Australian gun shop is closing after decades in business due to increasingly restrictive firearms laws, declining customer base, and regulatory burdens that made operations unsustainable. The article details the broader impact on the firearms industry and shooting community in Australia following successive tightening of gun control measures.
-
ShootingnewsweeklyThe article provides an introductory overview of firearm silencers (suppressors), explaining they reduce muzzle noise and recoil by trapping and cooling expanding gases. It covers the NFA regulatory process including ATF Form 4, tax stamp, and wait times; differences between direct-thread, quick-detach, and integral designs; and factors like caliber compatibility, host firearm, and intended use. No specific silencer models, manufacturers, sizes, weights, or prices are detailed.
- Availability: Range training and hunting (hearing protection and reduced recoil for new shooters)
- Special: Pro: Reduces noise and recoil; Con: Requires ATF approval, tax stamp, and lengthy wait times
-

It stresses that the number of shots required depends on the threat’s persistence, with courts evaluating reasonableness based on the totality of circumstances rather than a fixed count. Training to achieve rapid, accurate follow-up shots and carrying sufficient ammunition capacity are presented as essential preparation.
- Availability: Self-defense / EDC
- Special: Pro: Multiple shots often needed to stop determined attacker; Con: Excessive rounds after threat ends can appear unreasonable in court

March for Our Lives faces funding cuts, questions gun laws after Oregon school shooting incident.
A Shooting News Weekly article in the “Going Ballistic” segment argues that gun control organizations’ strategy of using fear-based messaging to influence young adults on firearms policy has produced mixed results. Rather than uniformly driving support for stricter laws, the approach has sometimes led to increased interest in gun ownership and self-defense among younger demographics. The piece highlights polling and cultural trends showing that fear induction does not consistently translate into the intended political outcomes.- The Gist: Affects U.S. young adults (primarily ages 18-29) and national gun control advocacy organizations such as those promoting restrictive firearms legislation.
- Impact: Undermines the political effectiveness of fear-based advocacy campaigns; may contribute to rising firearms ownership and Second Amendment support among younger voters, complicating legislative efforts at federal and state levels.
- Bottom Line: Fear-based gun control messaging does not always produce the desired anti-gun sentiment in young adults and can backfire by encouraging personal firearms acquisition.

Tom’s Hardware
The experimental prototype cannot pinpoint the weapon’s location on the carrier
Researchers developed WiFireNet, an open-source AI system that detects concealed handguns by analyzing distortions in Wi-Fi signals caused by metal objects. The model was trained and tested on the older 802.11a standard, using Channel State Information (CSI) to identify how weapons alter wireless signal propagation. It achieves high precision in controlled environments without requiring cameras or traditional sensors.- The Gist: Affects public spaces, transportation hubs, and venues using legacy 802.11a Wi-Fi infrastructure; tested on human subjects carrying or not carrying firearms in various configurations.
- Impact: Enables non-visual, privacy-preserving weapon detection for security screening; raises questions around surveillance expansion, data privacy of Wi-Fi CSI, and potential use in law enforcement or private security without physical pat-downs.
- Bottom Line: WiFireNet demonstrates that older Wi-Fi hardware can be repurposed for AI-driven concealed handgun detection via signal distortion analysis, offering an open-source alternative to camera-based systems with strong reported precision.

GunsOn October 19, 2026, NSSF, NRA, SAF, Mountain States Legal Foundation, two New Mexico industry associations, three FFL retailers, and individual Peter Hackett filed suit (Case No. 1:26-cv-03514) in U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico against Attorney General Raúl Torrez. The complaint challenges continued enforcement of 2024 House Bill 129, which imposes a seven-day waiting period after a purchaser passes the federal NICS background check before taking possession of a firearm. This follows the Tenth Circuit’s 2025 ruling in Ortega v. Grisham that the law likely violates the Second Amendment, subsequent district court permanent injunction limited to the two named plaintiffs, and the state’s refusal to apply the ruling broadly while appealing.
- The Gist: New Mexico residents, firearm retailers (Calibers Shooting Sports Center, Omni Tactical USA, Right to Bear Arms), industry associations (New Mexico Firearms Industry Association, New Mexico Shooting Sports Association), and organizational plaintiffs including NSSF, NRA, and SAF; applies to law-abiding purchasers who pass federal background checks (with noted exception for concealed carry permit holders in original law).
- Impact: Seeks declaratory judgment that HB 129 (N.M. Stat. § 30-7-7.3) is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment as applied to those passing NICS checks, plus a permanent statewide injunction; builds on Tenth Circuit precedent rejecting “cooling-off” periods as lacking historical tradition, while state continues enforcement against non-plaintiffs citing narrow scope of prior judgment.
- Bottom Line: New Mexico must cease enforcing the 7-day waiting period against individuals who pass federal background checks or face further court-ordered relief.

A unanimous three-judge panel of the U.S. Fifth Circuit ruled last week that federal restrictions on interstate commerce in switchblade knives violate the Second Amendment.
A federal court ruled that the federal switchblade ban violates the Second Amendment, applying Bruen’s history-and-tradition test. The decision could undermine similar restrictions on other arms like certain knives or accessories. The ruling stems from a challenge to 15 U.S.C. § 1242 et seq.- The Gist: Nationwide; the federal switchblade prohibition (15 U.S.C. § 1242) is invalidated for all U.S. jurisdictions and individuals.
- Impact: Establishes that switchblades are protected arms under the Second Amendment; opens challenges to other modern weapon bans lacking historical analogues, potentially limiting future gun control measures.
- Bottom Line: Switchblade ban ruled unconstitutional under Bruen framework; federal prohibition struck down.

Explore NYPD gun permit delays and alleged corruption impacting Second Amendment rights in NYC.
A Bearing Arms column by Tom Knighton questions whether chronic delays in New York City Police Department handgun permit processing stem from bureaucratic incompetence or deliberate obstruction. The piece examines post-Bruen compliance issues in New York, highlighting applicant frustrations and suggesting possible anti-gun bias within the licensing system.- The Gist: New York City residents applying for handgun carry or premises permits through the NYPD Licensing Division
- Impact: Raises Second Amendment concerns over effective denial of rights through administrative delay; questions whether NYPD practices violate Bruen’s requirement for objective, shall-issue permitting; fuels ongoing litigation and political debate over discretionary licensing in New York
- Bottom Line: NYPD handgun permit delays may reflect intentional resistance to lawful carry rather than mere incompetence, effectively infringing on applicants’ constitutional rights.

Massachusetts Congressman faces backlash over misleading pro-gun-control ad ahead of 2026 election.
A Massachusetts congressman faced widespread criticism after making a pro-gun-control argument that critics described as flawed or misleading. The article details the specific claim, the social media and commentator backlash highlighting factual inaccuracies or logical failures, and places the exchange in the broader debate over firearms legislation.- The Gist: Affects Massachusetts congressional district residents and participants in national gun policy debates.
- Impact: Undermines credibility of certain gun-control talking points; amplifies arguments that such proposals rely on emotional appeals rather than data.
- Bottom Line: Public pushback illustrates persistent resistance to expanded gun control measures despite repeated attempts by lawmakers.

Debunking claims that guns are the leading cause of death in kids using CDC 2025 data and SAF analysis.
The article examines the frequently cited claim that firearms are the leading cause of death for children, using CDC and other data. It highlights that the statistic often relies on an expanded age range up to 19 or 20 years old, includes a high proportion of suicides and homicides involving older teens, and notes that for younger children the leading causes remain motor vehicle accidents and other factors. The piece argues the claim is misleading when applied to actual ‘kids’ without context on age, intent, or specific demographics.- The Gist: United States children and adolescents (typically ages 0-19 in cited data); claim commonly used in national gun control debates.
- Impact: Challenges the political narrative used to support stricter firearm laws by showing data manipulation through age grouping and inclusion of suicides/homicides; questions reliability of aggregated CDC statistics for policy-making.
- Bottom Line: The claim is misleading; when younger children are isolated or suicides separated, firearms are not the leading cause of death.

Review: Chad from Oregon
Gun & Gear Review (Chad) from Oregon.6 squares now that Aaron’s goneI’m sick and tired of all these “anonymous cowards” in Oregon. They are gay and retarded, unlike the autistic hosts on this podcast. Autism = good, gay and retarded = Savage. Great podcast if you’re into the tisms

This show rocks. I listen while I work to try to escape the soul sucking hell that is my middle management job. This is the best gun pod I’ve found so far. The guys are hilarious and I learn something new pretty much every time I listen. 100% worth tuning in. -

I’m 69 & retired. I have 7 guns that are safequeens. I guess that makes me a fud. Whatever. I like your shows. The cast is funny, Germy is my favorite because he never lies, just says what needs to be said. I also like Savage because I too live in WA and understand how he feels. Don’t know why you all hit on him so much.
Bang Rank and Gun Fights are fun to listen to.
Shawn, I love your music. Dang Free is great. I’ve always loved your intro and outro and, what do you call them, bumpers or bumper music? I wish you would play the full versions more often.
I pulled up Freedumb on spotify and listened to it all 4 times in a row. My first thought was the key and the cadence all sounded alike. Spotify breaks each up by a half second but if you listen close the end of one continues into the next. Then it hit me, the lyrics make each song an anthem about everything the WLS family is all about, and the album as a whole is almost a rock opera.
But I have to ask, who are the band members on the webpage? Since its an AI band, are they real people or just stock photos? Please explain if you can, and keep up the good work.
Keep up the great work.
