WLS is Lifestyle
- Risk vs. Reality in Self-Defense
- An interesting factoid is that there’s 99.997971% chance you won’t need a gun to defend yourself today, but play that game every day over the 21,535 days of the average adult life and there’s a 35.405% chance you will need it at least once. To me that’s the flaw in people’s perception of risk, people inherently look at things through the lens of the day-to-day and will fail to recognize the totality of risk over large stretches of. To me that’s why people who are not inherently interested in firearms tend to be apprehensive, we’re essentially asking them to make a ~$3,000 bet (in my estimation anyway) to purchase equipment and develop a skill plus a lifetime of maintenance in that skill that has a less than a 1:50,000 chance of being relevant to that person in any given day when the alternative is to literally do nothing.
