i need the gangs input on a new hunting set up. I recently picked up a 14″ .45-70 thompson contender. Id really like to take it out for western pa deer hunting. What do you think about using a single shot gun for hunting? What would the ballistics be for a .45-70 in a 14 inch barrel? What optic should i put on this thing?

Was thinking of assembling a carry handle ar15 like an a2 or a1 style but not sure what to look for when it comes to quality. I’ve seen some carry handles that attach to the pic rail and some uppers that come with the carry handle forged in but the later seem to be on back order, have a limited release windows or unobtainium. I know Jeremy has some information on the subject and would love some input. Also looking to mount an optic on top of the carry handle.

I have about $6000 or $7000 that I would like to put towards a new capability. I’m thinking about getting into the night vision game, or thermal.
I currently have neither.
Do I buy a set of nods + helmet + laser + whatever else I need to have a set up.
Or do I buy a thermal clip on/stand alone unit, like the iRay rh25?
I just want to be able to defend my house and family, and also some pest control.

I just purchased a Bowers group vers 458 trying to decide what to build or buy next around that suppressor… I have at least 8 months to save up for the next thing and that long to wait on the suppressor.
Was thinking about the new Ruger/ Marlin 1895 lever gun in either 357 or 45/70… I like the stainless steel all weather over the Henry blued and wood don’t get me wrong it’s a sexy gun but I want a good all-weather hunting gun.
I’m also leaning towards doing a 300 Blackout build.
Either way I go I want it to be a good suppressor host for the vers 458
I want them all but I can only afford to do one at a time because unfortunately I don’t have two staccato Shawn money or “stop being a poor” Jeremy money🤣
Your help is greatly appreciated but will not be considered at all as I will do what I want!!!… fuck you you’re not my dad🤣😂
