Question from Jaqin Ta’Sox from Connecticut
Jaqin Ta’Sox: Dear WLS
I’m looking for a brand that’s good enough to shoot shitty steal case 556 and 308 ammo. I’m not looking for match grade accuracy, just something for up close “zombi hoards.” Any recommendations? -
Question from JackB from Texas
Hypothetical question. Suppose someone breaks into my house and I shoot them, but don’t kill them. They’re just laying there whining and bleeding all over my floor like an asshole. Obviously at that point it’s illegal to just finish them off, so instead I handcuff them and grab my trauma pack. If I were to ‘accidentally’ cause further injury or kill them while treating them, would I be protected under Good Samaritan laws?-JackB -
Question from Joe J from South Dakota
Which has a higher likelihood, discharging a firearm in self defense or successfully committing suicide with a firearm?Joe J -
Question from P. Nissenvy from Illinois
Oh ye wise gentlemens,
Medical question for Shawn: How many tourniquets do you utilize and where do you keep them? On your person, in your vehicle, around the house, in your purse, etc.
Also what kinds do you prefer?
I’ve got a gen 7 CAT that I carry, but I’m feeling somewhat underdressed.
Thank you in advance for your wisdom and your mild and pleasant musk.
Your brother from another mother,
P. Nissenvy -
Question from Anonymous Coward from Pennsylvania
Question for Double Tap:I would like a steel frame, hammer fired 9mm semi auto pistol as a fun range gun. Deciding between a Springfield SA-35 Hi Power clone and some variant of a CZ75, but may be open to others. Budget is around $750. What has been your favorite steel framed, hammer fired 9mm to shoot? Thanks!

Question from Austin From CO
Hey guys love the show. I have recently taken a new job that would make it very beneficial to go to shot show. Can I expect other inside industry talk to happen at goals or guncon?

MDTTACFederal has introduced Peak Alloy 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition utilizing a proprietary alloy case that enables operating pressures near 80,000 PSI and velocities approaching 3,100 fps from a 20-inch barrel. The article outlines six reasons this load may challenge the traditional preference for 6.5 PRC, including impressive velocity gains for flatter trajectory, reduced wind drift, and greater retained energy, while noting potential drawbacks such as increased stress on actions and accelerated barrel wear from higher pressures and heat. It highlights that the extra ~300 fps narrows the performance gap with 6.5 PRC (which has larger case capacity), potentially influencing future cartridge development, though long-term durability data is not yet available.

THEFIREARMBLOGExtar Firearms introduced the EP9 MDB (9×19, 3.75 lb) and EP45 MDB (.45 ACP, 4.35 lb) at GunCon 2026. The primary engineering change is the adoption of roller-delayed blowback while retaining Glock magazine compatibility, AR-style controls, M-LOK handguards, and threaded barrels. The models are positioned as budget-friendly large-format pistols and PDW-style options.

THEFIREARMBLOGSamson Manufacturing has released a new aluminum chassis for the Ruger Mini-14 that provides a modern tactical upgrade over previous wood and steel folding stock options. The chassis features more precise lockup, a fully adjustable folding stock, and compatibility with the Samson Hannibal rail for optics mounting. It is a drop-in fit for Mini-14 rifles manufactured from 2008 onward.

SOLDIERSYSTEMSRepublic Systems has released the Pattern 26 Short Ruck and Combat Support Duffel as part of its Pattern 26 Load Carriage Platform. The Short Ruck is designed to be shorter than a standard ALICE frame to allow lashing equipment to the top lid, while the Combat Support Duffel functions as a sleep carrier, haversack, or slung duffel. Both incorporate 2-inch webbing on the lid and matching spaced webbing across the platform for universal lashing using 1-inch straps and ITW 1″ hardware.
